Spanish PM Sánchez Meets Pope Francis for First Time at Vatican

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez held his inaugural meeting with Pope Francis at the Vatican on Wednesday, a significant encounter preceding the pontiff's official visit to Spain. Sánchez was welcomed by Vatican officials before entering the Apostolic Library, the traditional venue for private audiences between the Pope and heads of state.

The encounter between Sánchez and Pope Francis takes place in the context of the Pope's upcoming official visit to Spain, scheduled from June 6 to June 12. During his tour, the pontiff is expected to lead activities in Madrid, Barcelona, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and Santa Cruz de Tenerife. A significant event during the visit will be a Mass celebrated at the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona.
