Spanish second-division club Sporting Gijon targets Hajduk midfielder Hugo Guillamon

Spanish second-division club Sporting Gijon has set its sights on Hajduk Split's 26-year-old midfielder, Hugo Guillamon, according to reports from the Spanish newspaper Marca.

Guillamon's contract with the Croatian club has one year left. However, Hajduk indicated in late May that the player is permitted to explore other options. This opens the door for Sporting Gijon's pursuit.

Sporting Gijon wants Hugo Guillamon to strengthen its midfield. The former Valencia player, who has appeared for the Spanish national team at the 2022 World Cup, is the club's main target in midfield.

The midfielder, who previously played for Valencia and represented Spain at the 2022 World Cup, is reportedly Sporting Gijon's primary target for strengthening their midfield. Before making a formal offer, Sporting Gijon will need Guillamon to terminate his current contract with Hajduk.

Transfermarkt estimates Guillamon's market value at around 1.5 million euros. He joined Hajduk Split last summer, making 26 appearances for the club. His move to Hajduk was facilitated by Ivan Rakitić, a former Hajduk player who was involved in player recruitment before departing the club himself.
