'Spider-Man 4' Draws 680,000 on Opening Day, Claims Top Spot

The latest installment in the Spider-Man franchise, titled "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," has swung into the top spot at the South Korean box office. On its opening day, July 29, the film captivated audiences, drawing 688,381 viewers and securing the number one position.

According to data from the Korean Film Council's Integrated Network System, the movie's cumulative audience count reached 689,635 by the end of its first day. The film's plot centers on Peter Parker, who is forgotten by everyone following the events of "Spider-Man: No Way Home." His world is thrown into further chaos with the appearance of a mysterious enemy who remembers his identity and the acquisition of uncontrollable powers due to DNA mutation. He must confront new threats to protect his loved ones.

This new chapter arrives five years after "Spider-Man: No Way Home." The previous three films starring Tom Holland – "Spider-Man: Homecoming," "Spider-Man: Far From Home," and "Spider-Man: No Way Home" – collectively attracted over 22.8 million viewers in South Korea, highlighting the franchise's significant popularity in the country.

Following "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," the film "Hope" secured the second position, attracting 87,948 viewers on the same day, bringing its total to over 3.7 million. "Minions & Monsters" ranked third with 21,655 viewers, accumulating a total of over 628,000.
