Spires 5-Aside Tourney: Chekas FC Dethrone All Saints As Champions Of Badagry

Chekas United Football Club emerged as the champions of the Badagry divisional qualifiers for the 2026 Spires 5-Aside Naija Street Soccer tournament, dethroning previous finalists. They secured a hard-fought victory over newcomers Smiller All Champions Football Club in a dramatic penalty shootout.

The pulsating final, held at the Honourable Lukman Olumoh’s Sports Complex, saw both teams play out an entertaining 3-3 draw after regulation time. Chekas United ultimately triumphed in a sudden death penalty shootout, clinching the divisional title.

In the third-place playoff, Emaljus Football Club secured a 2-1 win against former champions All Saints Football Club. As a result of their performance, Chekas FC received N500,000, Smiller FC N300,000, and Emaljus FC N100,000. All three teams have qualified for the upcoming state championship.

Despite his team's fourth-place finish, All Saints FC forward Moses Obi was awarded N50,000 for being the tournament's highest goal scorer. Victor Ottah, Public Relations Director for the Spires 5-Aside tournament, praised the Badagry division's spectacle and the exceptional skills displayed by the players and fans. The tournament's next stop for qualifiers is Ikeja.
