Sports subsidies are set to rise, but major events and national teams face cuts

Sports subsidies distributed through the Czech National Sports Agency are expected to increase by about 200 million korunas next year. The proposed state budget for 2027 would lift the total from nearly 8.1 billion korunas to almost 8.3 billion.

The increase comes with a restriction: funding for major sporting events and national-team representation will have to absorb cuts. The figures come from the draft state budget published Monday by the Finance Ministry.

The proposal sets out a larger overall sports budget while reducing support in areas tied to high-profile competitions and national representation.
