SPS resignations mount in Kosovo as local board leaders leave

The departures from Serbia’s Socialist Party are spreading across Kosovo. Four more party officials submitted resignations after Branko Prodanović stepped down in Zubin Potok, according to KoSSev.

Ninoslav Đerić resigned as head of the municipal board in North Mitrovica. Milan Aritonović resigned from four party posts, including chairing the board in Kamenica. Slađan Marić left the SPS and resigned as head of the board in Štrpce. Savić Nenad, a deputy head of the youth organization in Kamenica, also left the party.

The officials cited Branko Ružić’s expulsion as one of the main reasons for their decisions. Some also pointed to pressure, the way decisions were made and the party leadership’s treatment of members in Kosovo.

Đerić’s resignation first reached the KoSSev editorial office by email, accompanied by a request for publication. Aritonović later forwarded three more signed resignations and wrote: “Unfortunately, they only dissolve the boards once we resign. And the Executive Board does not even meet.”

The decisions are not identical. Marić and Savić explicitly said they were leaving the party, while Aritonović and Đerić resigned from their posts without saying they were ending their party membership.
