SSS frees, compensates man wrongly linked to Oyo schoolchildren abduction

The Nigerian State Security Service (SSS) has freed and compensated Mustapha Marwana, a man wrongly detained in connection with the abduction of 46 pupils and seven teachers from schools in Oyo State. The SSS stated that Marwana, a carpenter, was initially linked to the Ansaru terror group but a panel investigation established his innocence.

Mustapha was arrested in connection with the abduction and killing of school pupils and teachers in Oriire LGA, Oyo State. He was subsequently subjected to thorough investigation to establish the extent, if any, of his involvement in the activities under investigation.

According to the SSS, its director general, Oluwatosin Ajayi, ordered Marwana's immediate release. The agency also approved an initial compensation of N3 million to help him meet immediate needs and restart his livelihood. Marwana was released to his lawyer, Oghene Forgive, who reportedly thanked the SSS boss for his generosity and dedication to establishing Marwana's innocence.
