Stade de Reims sign Nigerian teenage striker Abdoulaye Agbedoye

Abdoulaye Agbedoye’s 19 goals in 19 matches have earned the Nigerian teenager a move to France. Stade de Reims announced the signing of the 18-year-old forward from Grassrunners FC after his standout campaign in the Nigerian Youth League Cup.

Agbedoye finished as the competition’s top scorer and won both the Golden Boot and Golden Ball awards. Standing 1.95 metres tall, the striker has attracted comparisons with Manchester City forward Erling Haaland because of his physical presence and direct style.

His form also secured a place in Nigeria’s under-20 squad for the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship. The Flying Eagles finished runners-up after losing to hosts Burkina Faso in the final.

Several European clubs reportedly followed Agbedoye during the transfer window, including Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace and Brentford. A move to Forest would have reunited him with Nigerian defender Ola Aina, but the teenager chose to continue his development in France.

Reims said Agbedoye would initially join its youth structure and attempt to progress toward the senior side. “The Stade de Reims is pleased to announce the signing of Abdoulaye Agbejoye,” the club said, using a different spelling of his surname in its announcement. It described him as a powerful centre-forward who would bring “all his power and sense of goal” to the club’s Espoirs group.

Agbedoye is the second Grassrunners FC player to join Reims this summer, following former academy teammate Raphael Itotomi Godwin. The club said its development programme would give the Nigerian forward a platform to continue improving.
