Starry night circus, market performances cap Taichung's 'Play Theater Life Festival'

Taichung's "Play Theater Life Festival" culminated in a vibrant "Starry Night Circus" and market exhibition, drawing large crowds to the city's Zhongshan Hall Arts Plaza. The event, which had been postponed due to Typhoon Ba-Wei, showcased a variety of performing arts, including circus acts, traditional Chinese puppetry, and street performances.

The festival transformed the plaza into a cultural amusement park, blending performing arts, interactive experiences, and leisure. The opening night featured a spectacular acrobatic performance by Fantu Performance Art, followed by traditional shows like "Nezha Fights the East Sea" and "Magic Journey to the West" by the Taichung Shengwuzhou Puppetry Troupe. The "Starry Night Circus" by "Focus Dance Company" captivated audiences with a "Clown's Kitchen" show, combining acrobatics, juggling, and humorous audience interaction.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, the plaza hosted an art market, street artist performances, and giveaways of limited-edition park tickets. Families and residents enjoyed browsing the market while watching the performances, soaking in the lively summer night ambiance.

Looking ahead, the festival continues on August 26th with a performance by the New Taipei City-based "Door of Circus" titled "Close-up Clown." This show promises an intimate theatrical experience through close-range interaction and skillful circus techniques. Taichung's Cultural Affairs Bureau Director Chen Chia-chun emphasized the festival's goal of creating an "all-ages shared community theater" and bringing art into everyday life. She also acknowledged the long-term support from the Sun-Moon Light Cultural and Educational Foundation and Siliconware Precision Industries Co., Ltd. in developing Taichung's unique summer cultural brand.
