State of emergency lifted in three Kladovo settlements; fire risk remains

The state of emergency declared for the settlements of Velesnica, Velika Kamenica, and Podvrška in the municipality of Kladovo has been lifted, two days after its imposition due to a significant fire. The blaze, according to available data, consumed approximately 1,300 hectares of land.

High temperatures and strong winds contributed to the rapid spread of the fire. However, a substantial effort and effective coordination led to the fire being localized and subsequently extinguished. This successful intervention also resulted in the preservation of about twenty residential buildings in Velesnica.

Although the state of emergency has been lifted, the danger of fire still exists.

The Municipal Emergency Staff of Kladovo expressed gratitude to all individuals whose professional and dedicated work was instrumental in protecting lives, property, and preventing further spread of the fire. They noted that another fire in the vicinity of Rtkovo village was also successfully extinguished thanks to a swift response.

While the immediate emergency has passed, the risk of fires persists in the region. The Municipal Staff continues to monitor the situation and maintain coordination with relevant services. Citizens are strongly urged to exercise maximum responsibility and refrain from igniting stubble, grass, low vegetation, plant waste, and refuse in open areas.
