State Revenue Committee comments on Nurlan Saburov’s taxes

Kazakhstan's State Revenue Committee (SRC) has clarified the tax status of popular comedian Nurlan Saburov, confirming his registration as an individual entrepreneur for concert activities on March 21, 2023. Officials stated that Saburov has been meeting his tax obligations since 2024 under Kazakhstan's general tax administration procedure.

The SRC responded to an official inquiry, noting that if any discrepancies are found in Saburov's activities, tax administration measures will be taken as per legislation. Current data from the SRC website indicates no tax arrears for Saburov in Kazakhstan.

The committee also provided guidance on business operations for individuals returning after an absence. If an entrepreneur's registration was not closed, updating it is sufficient. However, those who officially ceased operations must re-register. The SRC also detailed requirements for filing income and property declarations, including specific forms and deadlines.

This clarification comes after Saburov faced a 50-year entry ban into Russia, imposed in January for national security reasons. He was detained at Moscow's Vnukovo Airport and later arrived in Almaty. Saburov stated his lawyers would handle the situation, following earlier reports alleging he provided financial aid to Russian servicemen, which prompted a check by Kazakhstan's KNB.
