President Bola Tinubu has issued a direct appeal to Nigerian youths, imploring them to remain in their home country and actively participate in its development. Speaking during his Democracy Day address, Tinubu stressed that Nigeria's future rests with those committed to resolving its challenges, contrasting them with individuals who choose to abandon the nation.

Tinubu's message comes amid a significant trend of emigration, often termed "japa," where many young, skilled Nigerians, particularly in sectors like technology, healthcare, and academia, seek better opportunities abroad. The President acknowledged this reality, stating, "To our young people: Nigeria is your home and your future. Build here, code here, work here, and vote here."

He asserted that the "democratic dividend" must translate into tangible economic benefits for citizens, especially the youth. "Democracy must be felt in the pocket," Tinubu declared, citing government initiatives such as the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, the deployment of 10,000 tractors over five years through the National Agricultural Development Fund, and the certification of over 1,000 SMEs for export. These measures are intended to expand domestic opportunities and foster economic growth within Nigeria.
