STEM Learning Network announces July 2026 activity calendar

The STEM Learning Network project, a significant initiative funded by the European Social Fund, officially commenced on March 20, 2025, and is scheduled to conclude 24 months later on March 20, 2027. With a total eligible cost of 297,557.55 euros, the project benefits from substantial EU co-financing, amounting to 251,158.59 euros, with the Institute for Human Resource Development serving as the primary applicant.

Collaborating on this educational endeavor are several key institutions. Partners include Krugovi, a center for education, counseling, and humanitarian action; the renowned Ruđer Bošković Institute; Algebra University; and multiple primary schools: Hvar, Pirovac, Jakova Gotovca, and Mladost. The project's reach extends across Šibenik-Knin, Split-Dalmatia, and Zagreb counties, as well as the City of Zagreb.

Over its two-year duration, the project is set to host an impressive 240 STEM workshops. These sessions will cover a diverse range of subjects, including STEAM mathematics, astronomy, marine biology and ecology, and GIS. Additionally, the initiative plans to organize 24 STEM events, provide training for employees and volunteers from NGOs and educational institutions, facilitate a study visit abroad, and ensure participation in national fairs and conferences.

The calendar for July 2026 highlights specific activities under "Activity 3.2. Promotion of STEM areas through workshops with children and students." These include multiple sessions of "LEGO WeDo in Action" and "Maps That Tell a Story" at Primary School Hvar on July 10th and 11th. The Wisdom Tree educational center in Zagreb will host "Introduction to Lego Robotics," "Lego Robots: Motors and Sensors," and "Lego Robots: Creative Construction and Programming" from July 1st to 7th. Workshops on "The Solar System," "Moon Phases," "Under the Shell" (marine biology), and "Survive as a Marine Mutant" are also scheduled at Primary School Hvar on July 10th.
