Storms cause significant damage in northwestern Bosnia and Herzegovina

A powerful storm system swept through northwestern Bosnia and Herzegovina today, leaving a trail of destruction. Strong winds and hail battered the regions of Potkozarje and the northwestern parts of the country, inflicting considerable damage on both agricultural lands and structures.

Following the initial onslaught, heavy rain and gusty winds extended their reach to the areas surrounding Banja Luka and Laktaši. In Prnjavor, a town located about 40 kilometers from Banja Luka, the storm's intensity led to power outages on several streets, disrupting daily life for residents.

The Republic Hydrometeorological Institute has issued a warning for the afternoon, anticipating further downpours accompanied by thunderstorms and the potential for localized heavy rainfall. This forecast suggests that the turbulent weather conditions may persist, posing ongoing risks to the affected regions.

The extent of the damage to crops and property is still being assessed, but early reports indicate a significant impact on the local economy and infrastructure. Residents are advised to stay informed about weather updates and take necessary precautions.
