Stranded Whale Off Anholt Confirmed as German Rescue Attempt Subject 'Timmy'

The humpback whale, known as Timmy, has once again found itself in distress, this time stranded off the coast of Anholt, Denmark. This follows a previous incident in March where the whale was stranded on the German North Sea coast. Despite efforts by German authorities to rescue it, a private group intervened, raising funds for a rescue operation. Timmy was lifted onto a barge and transported through Danish waters to be released in the Skagerrak, with hopes it would recover and reach the North Sea. Unfortunately, these hopes appear to have been dashed as the whale is now stranded again. The Danish Environmental Protection Agency has confirmed the identity of the whale through a transmitter attached to its back, which was recovered by the Nature Agency due to favorable weather conditions. This recurring stranding highlights the challenges in marine animal rescue and the complex journey of this particular humpback whale.
