Employees argue that this digital-first strategy is negatively impacting their working conditions and the overall editorial quality of the newspaper. They are seeking adequate resources to meet the demanding standards expected by the publication's readership. A meeting between management and staff representatives was scheduled for Tuesday.

Proofreaders, responsible for ensuring the accuracy and correctness of the French language used in articles, highlighted their need for proper means to work effectively. Le Monde, despite a difficult media environment, remains a leading national daily with nearly 700,000 subscribers across all formats, producing around 100 content pieces daily.
