Striking verdict on Leroy Sané: ‘His time is up’

Peter Neururer believes Leroy Sané’s Germany career is over. The German coach said the Galatasaray winger should no longer be selected for the national team and described his international period as finished.

“Sané’s time is up,” Neururer said. He added that Jürgen Klopp would follow a performance-based approach, while acknowledging that Sané had the talent to play at Lionel Messi’s level. The problem, he argued, was that the player had not shown that level recently.

Neururer also questioned whether Sané could produce the consistent performances at Galatasaray needed to persuade Klopp to give him another opportunity. “I don’t think he will return,” he said.

Sané, 30, has made 80 appearances for Germany and scored 18 goals.
