Strong winds uproot 37 trees, damage roofs in Bishkek

A severe windstorm swept through Bishkek on June 10, 2026, resulting in significant damage across the city. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), 37 trees were uprooted by the strong winds.

The storm also tore roofs off one apartment building and one residential house, affecting a total of 20 square meters of roofing. Additionally, the roof of a warehouse was damaged, spanning 4 square meters. The adverse weather conditions also led to damage to three vehicles.

Emergency response teams from the MES, municipal enterprise "Bishkekzelstroy," and local authorities were deployed to address the aftermath. They conducted emergency repair work promptly. The Meteorological Service reported wind speeds ranging from 9 to 24 meters per second.

Fortunately, the MES confirmed that no deaths or injuries were registered directly from the storm's impact on infrastructure. However, in a separate incident, a 23-year-old woman sustained a broken arm from a falling tree.
