Consumer Protection BC has launched an investigation into numerous complaints from individuals who purchased FIFA World Cup 2026 tickets through StubHub but never received them. The issue has drawn the attention of British Columbia's Attorney General, Niki Sharma, who described the reports as deeply concerning. "Major events like the FIFA World Cup 2026 should be an exciting experience and people should not have to worry about whether the tickets they purchased on StubHub will be honoured," Sharma said in a statement released Friday. The investigation falls under the province's Ticket Sales Act, which governs transparency and accountability in ticket sales and outlines consumer refund rights. Sharma emphasized that consumers deserve confidence when purchasing event tickets. This is not the first time Consumer Protection BC has taken action regarding StubHub; the agency previously reached an agreement with the ticket reseller to refund customers who lacked clear information about their tickets for Taylor Swift concerts in Vancouver in December 2024.
