Student Arrested for Vandalizing Teacher's Property at Jeju Elementary School

A high school student has been apprehended by police in Seogwipo, Jeju, for a series of disturbing acts at an elementary school. The student, identified as "A," allegedly entered a classroom on April 27 and left bodily fluids in a tumbler belonging to a female teacher, "B." Approximately a month later, on May 4, "A" returned to the same classroom and urinated on the teacher's chair. The teacher, who had taken a leave of absence due to the initial incident, was not present during the second offense; another teacher was using her chair at the time.

Security camera footage captured the student's movements and appearance after the first incident, leading to his arrest on May 8 on charges of property damage and trespassing. Importantly, no sex offense charges were applied.

During questioning with his guardian and lawyer present, "A" admitted to the acts but insisted they were not specifically aimed at "B," whom he claims to not know. The victimized teacher, who is undergoing psychiatric treatment and counseling, expressed her distress through the Jeju Teachers' Union. She fears what else might have happened in her classroom in her absence and has requested a comprehensive forensic investigation of the perpetrator's digital devices.

The teacher urged that the severity of the crime should not be downplayed due to the perpetrator's minor status or his "cowardly excuse" of attempting to steal snacks. She hopes the incident will be publicly discussed to ensure an active arrest investigation and appropriate punishment for the perpetrator, highlighting the threat such a crime poses to young students' safety.
