Student arrested in Egypt for promoting fireworks sales online

Egyptian authorities have apprehended a student in the Qena governorate, accusing him of operating a social media page dedicated to promoting and selling fireworks. The arrest is part of a broader initiative by the Ministry of Interior to combat criminal activities conducted online.

Security agencies succeeded in apprehending a student in Qena governorate, accused of managing a social media page to promote the sale of fireworks for sums of money.

According to a statement released on Monday, the General Department for Combating Information Technology Crimes, in coordination with the General Security sector, confirmed that an individual was managing a social media page to advertise fireworks sales in Qena. Following legal procedures, the suspect was identified and detained.

The individual apprehended was found to be a student residing within the jurisdiction of the Deshna police station. During the search, authorities discovered 882 assorted fireworks, a pyrotechnic ignition device, and a mobile phone. A technical examination of the phone revealed evidence corroborating the student's illicit activities.

During questioning, the accused confessed to managing the page and promoting fireworks sales.
