Student Dies After Stabbing in Huancayo; Mother Claims Bullying

A 13-year-old student died after being fatally stabbed during a confrontation in Huancayo, Peru. The incident occurred when the minor visited former classmates from his previous school. Preliminary reports suggest the attacker was another adolescent, who is currently being identified.

The case has caused public outcry after the victim's mother revealed her son had been a victim of bullying. She stated that she had transferred him to a different institution because of the harassment, but an invitation to meet his old friends led to the tragic encounter. The fight escalated beyond physical blows, resulting in the student being critically wounded in the chest by a bladed weapon.

He was rushed to the Daniel Alcides Carrión hospital, where his death was confirmed. The alleged aggressor, described as wearing a red hood, fled the scene. The victim's mother tearfully recounted how former classmates demanded money from her son, threatening him with death if he refused. The National Police of Peru has launched an investigation.

Parents from the Santa Isabel school decided not to send their children to class on Monday, August 24, 2026, protesting and demanding better security to prevent similar incidents. They reported over 15 cases of violence at the school, which serves more than 3,000 students.
