Suárez Brace Spoils Lewandowski's MLS Debut as Inter Miami Win 3-2

Luis Suárez netted a brace, including a dramatic late winner, as Inter Miami edged out Chicago Fire 3-2, overshadowing Robert Lewandowski's highly anticipated Major League Soccer debut. The victory came despite Inter Miami missing key stars Lionel Messi and Rodrigo De Paul, who were rested following Argentina's World Cup final appearance.

Lewandowski, recently acquired by Chicago Fire from Barcelona, started the match and played 63 minutes. "After just two days with my new team, I didn’t expect everything to work perfectly in my first game," the Polish captain stated. "I also need a bit more time, and I’m sure that next time we’ll play with fewer mistakes than today in defence. If we defend better, we can win this match next time."

Chicago took an early lead through an own goal in the 18th minute after a mix-up involving Miami's goalkeeper. Suárez equalized from the penalty spot in the 27th minute and then put Miami ahead early in the second half. Chicago managed to restore parity in the 67th minute, but academy graduate Preston Plambeck secured the win for Miami three minutes from time.

The win propelled Inter Miami to second place in the Eastern Conference, trailing leaders Nashville by five points. Coach Guillermo Hoyos emphasized that there is no immediate pressure on Messi and De Paul to return, acknowledging the physical and mental toll of the World Cup and stating they deserve their space.
