Summer festival at Tainan's Shuijiao park offers music, comedy, and more

Tainan's Shuijiao Cultural Park is buzzing with a limited-time summer event, the 'Shuijiao Cool Summer Concerts and Storytelling.' Running for two days starting July 25, the festival offers a blend of outdoor music, improvisational comedy, astronomical observation, a mobile museum, a creative market, street performers, and DIY workshops.

The opening day featured a performance by the Nanying Wind Ensemble, breaking the perception that wind music is confined to concert halls. Their repertoire included local classics like 'Three Scenes of Tainan' and 'Night in the Southern Capital,' alongside popular hits by Teresa Teng and other Taiwanese artists, evoking shared memories across generations.

On the second day, the local troupe 'Fucheng Comedy' will present an improvisational show, where the plot unfolds based on audience interaction, making each performance unique. The festival also incorporates science and cultural education. Japanese engineer Masanori Sugawa will set up a professional telescope for solar observation, and visitors can explore the history of the telecommunications center in the Guizi Mountain bunker.

Families can enjoy the 'Amazing Museum Mobile Train,' which brings exhibits from various museums, including archaeology, dinosaurs, fossils, and astronomy, to the park for interactive learning. The 'Cool Summer Market' will feature handmade crafts, food, and lifestyle products, complemented by live performances from street artists, creating a vibrant atmosphere for visitors.
