Summer returns to Sweden for three days

Swedes can anticipate a short-lived but welcome return of summer warmth this week, with meteorologists predicting temperatures could soar above 25 degrees Celsius in parts of the country. The pleasant weather is attributed to a temporary influx of warm air originating from Southern Europe.

Meteorologist Marie Staerk from the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) stated that Wednesday will see warmer air moving in, with local temperatures potentially exceeding 25 degrees. Southern Norrland could also experience temperatures in the low twenties. However, northern Norrland is expected to remain cooler.

Thursday looks to be a really warm day. It is the warm air from Southern Europe that makes a temporary visit.

Thursday is forecast to be the warmest day of the week, though some showers might occur over the mountains. "Then it looks like we will get some cooler air during the latter part of Friday that pushes away the really warm air. But Friday daytime also looks to be warm," Staerk added.

Under Wednesday, we get warmer air back. Locally, it can reach over 25 degrees, but even for southern Norrland, it could be over twenty degrees. At the same time, it remains cooler in northern Norrland.

The week began with mixed conditions, including rainfall in Götaland and some rain for Gotland on Monday. Tuesday is expected to be fairly sunny in Götaland and Svealand, accompanied by fresh winds. Northern Sweden will experience slightly cooler temperatures with scattered showers.

By the weekend, the forecast indicates a return to cooler and more mixed weather, especially in northern Sweden, as cooler air from the Atlantic begins to push in, displacing the warm air mass which will retreat southward.
