Super Typhoon Dolphin Nears China, Yellow Warning Issued

Super Typhoon Dolphin is forecast to make landfall in China as early as August 9, prompting the country's Central Meteorological Observatory to issue a yellow typhoon warning. The powerful storm is currently situated approximately 900 kilometers east of Wenzhou in Zhejiang Province.

Dolphin is moving westward at a speed of 15 to 20 kilometers per hour. Forecasters predict it will pass through the Ryukyu Islands on August 7 before entering the East China Sea. Due to a projected decrease in its forward speed, the typhoon is expected to make landfall along the coastal regions of Zhejiang and northern Fujian provinces sometime between the afternoon of August 9 and the morning of August 10.

After making landfall on the Chinese mainland, Dolphin is anticipated to weaken as it moves northwestward. However, its approach is expected to bring strong winds to most of the East China Sea and potentially up to 80 millimeters of rainfall to northern Taiwan.

The observatory's warning signifies a significant threat, urging preparedness for the typhoon's impact on coastal communities and maritime activities.
