Suspect arrested in connection with Fagersta school shooting; neighbors report loud noises

A young man, reportedly under 18 and residing south of Stockholm, has been arrested on suspicion of complicity in murder and attempted murder related to the school shooting in Fagersta. The arrest occurred early Wednesday morning, according to the Public Prosecutor's Office. The suspect has no known connection to the Brinellskolan school where the attack took place and was reportedly not present during the incident.

Neighbors in the apartment building where the suspect lives described waking up to loud bangs and screams on Monday night. One woman, who lives in the same stairwell, recounted, "I thought someone was trying to beat someone to death." Another neighbor described the sounds as not like a typical escalating argument, but rather sudden, loud noises, comparing them to "bowling balls being thrown on the floor," which they suspected was the sound of the door being forced open.

It was not like a fight that escalated, that got louder and louder, but just bang on.

The police operation at the apartment building reportedly lasted about fifteen minutes. Residents were initially unaware of what had happened, only later reading about the arrest in the news. The incident has left the neighbors feeling "very unpleasant" and disturbed by the events. The door to the suspect's apartment has since been replaced.

Media reports suggest the arrested individual had contact with Liam Nebel, the primary suspect in the Fagersta school shooting, and allegedly intended to carry out an attack on a school in the Stockholm area himself.
