Suspect captured in armed attack in San Lorenzo, Esmeraldas

Ecuadorian police have apprehended a 19-year-old suspect identified as alias 'Hamilton' in connection with a violent armed attack in San Lorenzo, Esmeraldas province. The incident, which took place near an educational facility, left two individuals dead and three others wounded.

The operation was launched following an alert received via the ECU 911 system, prompting specialized police units to secure the area. While students and staff were evacuated as a precautionary measure, authorities confirmed that the victims of the attack had no affiliation with the nearby school, and the educational institution's infrastructure remained unharmed.

Investigations revealed that the arrested suspect, Hamilton S., is a native of San Lorenzo and had an active arrest warrant for murder. Notably, he was among the individuals injured during the armed assault. Following his apprehension, he was taken to a hospital in Esmeraldas for medical attention under police custody.

Specialized units are continuing their investigation to ascertain the precise circumstances of the crime and to identify any other potential perpetrators involved in the attack. Evidence collection at the scene is ongoing as part of the inquiry.
