Suspect detained in Turkey over alleged criminal organization linked to Süleymancılar community

Mehmet Akay has been apprehended by Turkish authorities as part of an investigation into the 'Alihan Kuriş Criminal Organization,' which is reportedly linked to the Süleymancılar community. Akay, who worked at the Yeşilbayır İlim ve Kültür Hizmet Derneği, an association connected to the community, is suspected of actively participating in the concealment of financial documents, donation lists, bank books, and meeting minutes belonging to the alleged organization.

Authorities initiated a search for Akay after determining his involvement in instructing and overseeing the transfer of documents belonging to the criminal organization to a secure location. The operation, coordinated by the Antalya Provincial Gendarmerie Command's KOM and Intelligence branches, led to Akay's capture in the Bozova neighborhood of the Korkuteli district, at a residence belonging to a relative.

During the search of Akay's person and the residence, his mobile phone was confiscated for examination. The investigation is ongoing to establish connections between the seized digital materials and previously confiscated documents, clarify the purpose of storing these documents, identify other individuals involved in giving and following instructions, and fully map out the financial structure of the alleged criminal organization. The authorities are working to reveal all aspects of the organization's financial operations.
