Suspect in 3-Year Abuse Case Apologizes, Police Detail Brutality

Taufik Hidayat, a suspect accused of imprisoning and assaulting YTR for three years in Bandung, West Java, has broken his silence, expressing regret and apologizing for his actions. "I regret it, I apologize," Hidayat stated briefly during a press conference held by the West Java Regional Police.

Authorities revealed a disturbing pattern of abuse against YTR, detailing incidents across four different locations. These included physical beatings, cigarette burns inflicted during moments of anger, and severe injuries to the eyes, resulting in partial blindness. The violence escalated over time, with YTR suffering blows to the head and stab wounds to the knee, impairing mobility.

Hidayat faces multiple charges under the Criminal Code, including those related to assault and recidivism. Police stated that Hidayat cited jealousy and feelings of betrayal as motives, while YTR indicated she was a target for his anger during issues with customers. The suspect could face over five years in prison if convicted.
