Suspected Arson Under Investigation After Frankfurt Fire Injures Six

Frankfurt police are investigating a suspected case of aggravated arson after a fire in the Gallus district left six people injured. The blaze, which broke out in an apartment on the second floor, quickly spread to the third floor and the roof.

A 55-year-old man, identified as the resident of the apartment where the fire is believed to have originated, has been arrested. He was expected to be brought before a judge. Authorities are still working to determine the exact cause of the fire.

Two of the injured individuals suffered severe smoke inhalation and were rescued by firefighters. The fire caused substantial damage, estimated to be in the mid-six-figure euro range. Firefighters had to open large sections of the roof to extinguish embers in the insulation material.

Approximately 200 emergency personnel, including firefighters and rescue teams, were involved in the large-scale operation to combat the blaze and manage the aftermath. The investigation into the cause and circumstances of the fire is ongoing.
