Suspected criminal arrested in Dubai, extradited to Sri Lanka

A Sri Lankan national, identified as Kananagarage Lalith Kananagarage, also known by the aliases Bus Lalith and Kudu Lalith, has been apprehended in Dubai and returned to Sri Lanka to face serious charges. The arrest was made by a special team from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) early on August 25.

Lalith, a 36-year-old resident of Kalutara South, is alleged to have been involved in numerous criminal activities, including murder and drug trafficking, within the jurisdictions of several police stations, including Hanwella, Avissawella, Katukurunda, Padukka, and Meegoda. Furthermore, authorities reported that a substantial cache of powerful C-4 explosives was discovered in his possession.

Upon his arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake via SriLankan Airlines flight UL-226 from Dubai, CID officers recorded his statement. He was subsequently transferred under heavy security to the Colombo Central Criminal Investigation Division for further investigations into the extensive allegations against him.
