Suspected criminal leader "El Güero Pin" arrested in Sinaloa; operation sparks clashes and blockades

Federal and state forces apprehended a high-priority organized crime figure, identified as Misael “N,” also known as “El Güero Pin,” in Escuinapa, Sinaloa. The arrest occurred during an operation in the Isla del Bosque area and was met with armed resistance, resulting in confrontations and highway blockades.

This operation follows a recent surge in violence within the municipality. Escuinapa has experienced a series of violent incidents this month, including drone attacks with explosives and the femicides of 20-year-old Griselda Abigail “N” and 14-year-old para-athlete Grecia Guadalupe “N.”

The Secretary of Public Security of the State issued a statement urging residents of Escuinapa to follow official recommendations amid the ongoing security operations. The inter-institutional group, comprising the army, Navy, National Guard, and federal and state police, successfully detained a significant criminal leader operating in the southern part of the state. Reports from citizens and motorists indicated armed confrontations and road blockades during the operation, prompting continuous patrols in the affected areas.
