Suspected killer of 5-year-old boy arrested in Chimalhuacán; stepfather attempted to flee after crime

Authorities in Chimalhuacán, Mexico, have arrested a 23-year-old man identified as Sergio 'N' in connection with the death of a 5-year-old boy. The child, Alexis 'N', was found dead on Tuesday, June 30, with signs of violence.

The arrest occurred early Wednesday morning on Federal Highway México-Texcoco following an intelligence and investigation operation by municipal police. According to reports, the suspect attempted to evade officers upon noticing their presence but was intercepted. He was subsequently informed of his rights and transferred to the State of Mexico Prosecutor's Office for further investigation and legal proceedings.

Municipal authorities indicated that information provided by the detainee's own family was instrumental in his apprehension. The victim's mother discovered the child's body when she returned home from work.

Sergio 'N' is reportedly the stepfather of the deceased child. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the boy's death is ongoing.
