Suspected Los Lobos gang member killed in Quito police operation

A police operation in the San Antonio sector of northern Quito, Ecuador, resulted in the death of a suspected member of the Los Lobos criminal group. The operation, aimed at apprehending four individuals identified as suspects, including two high-priority targets, was initiated after police received intelligence suggesting they were planning an assassination.

According to police reports, the suspects resisted arrest and opened fire on the officers. During the ensuing exchange of gunfire, Brayan Orozco Moreno, a Colombian national and one of the prioritized targets, was killed. Two other suspected gang members, identified as Ángel Mauricio Cedeño Rosero and Robet Efrén Salcedo Yela, were injured and subsequently apprehended.

A fourth individual, Jeison Andrés Velasco Sape, also a Colombian national and identified as a high-priority target, attempted to flee but was captured by authorities. The operation led to the seizure of three firearms, including two pistols and a revolver, along with 48 bullet casings, two mobile phones, a vehicle, and clothing damaged by bullet impacts. The police operation underscores the ongoing efforts to combat organized crime in Quito.
