Suspected Partner Killer Caught Fleeing at Guayaquil Bus Terminal

National Police in Guayaquil apprehended a 33-year-old man identified as José F. at the city's main bus terminal. He is suspected of the femicide of a 30-year-old woman, Alexi G., whom he allegedly killed with a firearm.

The violent incident occurred on the night of Monday, August 24, 2026, in the Nueva Prosperina district. Emergency services received an alert about a person shot and found the victim deceased outside a residence. Initial investigations suggest the victim and the suspect were in a romantic relationship. According to witness accounts, the man arrived at the woman's home, and after an argument, he allegedly shot her multiple times.

Following the attack, the suspect reportedly fled the scene on a motorcycle. Investigators from the National Directorate for Investigation of Crimes Against Life (DINASED) used surveillance footage and technological tools to track his escape route and pinpoint his location.

José F. was captured near the Guayaquil bus terminal, where authorities believe he was attempting to leave the city. During the arrest, police seized several items, including a motorcycle, two mobile devices, three pieces of clothing, and a helmet, which will undergo forensic examination. Police records indicate the suspect has previous convictions for robbery and illicit trafficking of controlled substances. The investigation into the crime is ongoing.
