Suspected terrorists raze Borno school, kill villager

Suspected Boko Haram terrorists set fire to a block of five classrooms and a staff office at Government Day Secondary School in Kautikari village, Chibok Local Government Area, Borno State. The attack occurred around 6:45 p.m. on Saturday.

I can confirm that the insurgents attacked the Kautikari community yesterday, killed one person, and set ablaze one block containing five classrooms and an office at Kautikari JSS.

Confirming the incident, the Education Secretary of Chibok Local Government Area, Malah Kyari, stated that one person was killed during the attack. The affected section of the school was the junior secondary school.

The Borno State Police Command confirmed the incident, adding that security forces resisted the attackers. "The suspected insurgents faced strong resistance from joint security forces, averting further losses," said ASP Nahum Daso, the Public Relations Officer. He noted that the area is currently calm with ongoing patrols.
