Sveta Nedelja Firefighters Aid Omiš Amidst Wildfires; City Pledges Financial Support

Firefighters from Sveta Nedelja demonstrated their readiness to assist in critical situations, deploying their expertise and courage to combat severe fires in Croatia's Split-Dalmatia County. The team traveled to Vučevica and subsequently focused their efforts on the Omiš area over the weekend.

Seven firefighters, accompanied by two vehicles, were dispatched from Sveta Nedelja. Upon arrival, they took over the fire site and worked on extinguishing the remaining sections of the blaze. This deployment highlights the commitment of the Sveta Nedelja firefighters to provide aid regardless of distance or administrative boundaries.

Mayor of Sveta Nedelja, Dario Zurovec, emphasized the importance of solidarity and unity during times of crisis. He stated that when people, their homes, and property are threatened, collective responsibility is paramount. "Our thoughts are with all residents affected by the fires, as well as with the firefighters, emergency services, and everyone working day and night to protect people and property," Zurovec said.

In a gesture of support, the City of Sveta Nedelja announced it would provide 20,000 euros in financial assistance to the city of Omiš. The city conveyed its solidarity through a social media post, stating, "Sveta Nedelja stands with Omiš and the areas affected by the fires."
