Swiss Swimmer Noè Ponti Wins European Championship Bronze in 100m Butterfly

Swiss swimmer Noè Ponti has secured a bronze medal in the 100-meter butterfly at the European Championships held in Paris, marking a significant achievement in his career.

The 25-year-old Tessin native's third-place finish earns him his first medal at the European Championships. This victory comes as a welcome redemption after a challenging performance in the 50-meter butterfly event, where he lost his goggles during the dive, resulting in an eighth-place finish.

Ponti's time of 49.93 seconds placed him behind Hungary's Kristof Milak, who claimed the gold medal with a new European record of 49.48 seconds, narrowly missing the world record. France's Maxime Grousset took the silver medal, finishing just behind Milak at 49.70 seconds.

While Ponti had hoped for gold following his strong performances in the preliminary heats and semi-finals, he acknowledged the exceptional level of competition in the final. His personal best remains 49.83 seconds, set at the World Championships in Singapore last year. This bronze medal represents the 24th European Championship medal for Swiss swimming history.
