Swiss town to fine dog owners for not washing away pet urine

The Swiss border town of Chiasso is introducing a novel regulation to combat persistent foul odors: dog owners must rinse away their pets' urine from public streets and building facades or face fines. Starting mid-August 2026, this measure aims to enhance public hygiene and the town's aesthetic, particularly during hot, dry summers when odors become more pronounced.
