Synergy is Strategic Necessity in Military Operations, CAS Tells Commanders

Synergy among Nigeria's armed forces is an indispensable element for success in contemporary military operations, according to Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, the Chief of Air Staff (CAS).

Speaking at the Air Force War College Nigeria in Makurdi, Aneke delivered a lecture titled “Military Strategic Leadership: My Perspective” to participants of Air War Course 12/2026. He stressed that future commanders must adopt strategic leadership, jointness, and innovation as critical enablers for operational effectiveness in today's complex security environment.

The CAS highlighted that effective military leadership transcends mere command authority. It involves inspiring personnel, shaping institutions, and translating national strategic objectives into tangible operational outcomes. Aneke stated that the deliberate integration of airpower with surface forces enhances operational effectiveness and is central to addressing current security challenges.

Concurrently, the Nigerian Army, through its Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to defending Nigeria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. During an Inter-Denominational Church Service marking the Army's 163rd Anniversary, the COAS called for prayers for the armed forces and national leaders as they confront the nation's evolving security landscape. The anniversary served as a moment to reflect on the Army's legacy of patriotism and sacrifice while renewing its dedication to national service.
