Tabilo advances to Bastad semifinals after rival's withdrawal

Chilean tennis player Alejandro Tabilo has advanced directly to the semifinals of the ATP 250 Bastad tournament, benefiting from the withdrawal of his quarterfinal opponent, Argentina's Thiago Agustín Tirante.

Tabilo, currently ranked world No. 31, was set to face Tirante, ranked 61st, in the final match on the center court. However, Tirante's withdrawal due to physical problems meant Tabilo secured his spot in the next round without playing.

This marks Tabilo's return to an ATP semifinal stage after a five-month hiatus. His previous semifinal appearance was in February at the Rio de Janeiro tournament. In the quarterfinals, Tabilo had secured a hard-fought victory against another Argentine, Lautaro Midón, who entered the main draw from the qualifying rounds, with a score of 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-4.

In the semifinals, Tabilo awaits the winner of the match between the tournament's top seed, Andrey Rublev of Russia, and Argentina's Sebastián Báez. The Chilean player will be looking to continue his strong performance in Bastad and reach his first ATP final since Rio de Janeiro.
