Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen Gifts Plaque to Houyi Temple

Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen visited the Houyi Temple in Houli District to offer incense and present a plaque inscribed with "Divine Grace is Vast." The visit coincided with the Houli District Office's "Houli Arts and Culture Carnival" and "Vegetable and Fruit Industry Cultural Activities" held at Houli Forest Park, featuring a performance by the Ming Hwa Yuan.

8 years ago when I ran for mayor of Taichung, I was not expected to win. Legislator Yang Chiung-ying told me that the Mazu of Houyi Temple is very effective, and I must come to worship. Only then did I become the current Mayor Lu. People should know how to be grateful.

Lu stated that eight years ago, when she ran for Taichung mayor and was not favored to win, Legislator Yang Chiung-ying advised her to pray at Houyi Temple, attributing her subsequent victory to the temple's efficacy. Expressing gratitude, Lu, who is nearing the end of her term, returned to offer thanks and present the plaque. She noted that Taichung has been recognized as Taiwan's happiest city for eight consecutive years and prayed for the successful election of her successor to continue the city's prosperity. Lu humorously suggested that the Goddess Mazu should choose a mayor who is both handsome and adept in international and domestic affairs, specifically mentioning Legislative Yuan Vice President Chiang Chi-chen, so she could retire with peace of mind.

Legislative Yuan Vice President Chiang Chi-chen remarked that Mayor Lu has brought eight years of happiness to the city and expressed hope for continued happiness, development, and prosperity. Legislator Yang Chiung-ying and City Councilor Chiu Ai-shan and Chen Pen-tien also attended the event. Lu also presented a plaque at the Ming Hwa Yuan performance stage in Houli Forest Park.
