Taichung Motorcycle Shop Fire Engulfs Building, Traps Man Rescued by Firefighters

A fire erupted in a motorcycle shop in Taichung's Xitun District on the morning of June 27, sending thick smoke billowing through the building. Residents reported hearing explosions before the entire structure was engulfed in black smoke. Firefighters responded swiftly, braving the flames to search for occupants. They successfully rescued a 24-year-old man from the fourth floor. The man, who had inhaled some smoke, was conscious and transported to the hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition with no life-threatening injuries.

The four-story building, with the motorcycle shop on the first floor, was heavily damaged. The blaze produced dense smoke that obscured the building's exterior. Firefighters deployed ladder trucks and entered the interior, equipped with breathing apparatus, to combat the fire and search for trapped individuals. The situation was tense as rescue efforts unfolded.

Fire department officials received the report at 7:57 a.m. and dispatched 18 fire trucks and 41 personnel. The fire was brought under control by 8:18 a.m. and extinguished by 8:26 a.m. The rescued man sustained minor smoke inhalation but no external injuries. The fire destroyed two motorcycles and stored items on the first floor, affecting an area of approximately 60 square meters. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
