Taichung police break car window to rescue trapped 2-year-old girl

Quick thinking by Taichung police officers led to the safe rescue of a two-year-old girl who became trapped inside a locked vehicle in a basement parking lot. The incident occurred when the girl's parents were preparing to leave their home and placed their daughter in the car, only for the doors to automatically lock with the keys still inside.

Faced with a rapidly escalating situation and unable to locate a spare key, the distressed parents contacted emergency services. Responding officers from the Dongshan Police Station, Luo Hao-heng and Song Yuan-qing, arrived at the scene to find the parents anxiously trying to comfort their child through the car window. After assessing the situation and confirming the girl was unharmed, the officers determined that immediate action was necessary.

To ensure the child's safety and prevent any potential risks associated with prolonged confinement, the officers decided to break the rear left window, chosen specifically because it was furthest from the child. The sound of the glass shattering echoed through the parking garage, startling onlookers but ultimately allowing officers to open the door and reunite the girl with her relieved parents. The parents expressed profound gratitude for the police's swift and effective intervention.
