Tainan Mayor: 'Chop America Art Festival' Venue Review Will Be Impartial; Will Treat Sister to Meal if She Attends

Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che reiterated on Thursday that the city government will adhere to administrative neutrality and review all applications for public venue use, including the controversial "Chop America Art Festival" banquet, in accordance with the law. The event, organized by netizens, has garnered significant attention and is reportedly seeking venue rental from the city.

The Tainan City Government emphasized that regardless of the event's purpose or participants, any application for public space usage will be processed through established procedures and legal frameworks. While rumors suggest the venue might be near the Tainan Municipal Stadium, neither the organizers nor the Sports Bureau have confirmed this.

Organizers, identified as "Mr. Su," have indicated through online comments that they have identified a large open space suitable for the event and will announce the confirmed location soon. The potential location near Wufeng Temple has been mentioned in reports but remains unverified.

During a press conference, Mayor Huang was asked about his sister, television personality Huang Chih-hsien, who had previously expressed on social media her intention to participate in the "Chop America Art Festival." Huang Wei-che responded with a lighthearted remark, stating, "If my sister comes, I will treat her to a meal," signaling a relaxed approach to her potential involvement.
