Tainan's largest development project, Southern Science Park A-O zone, to build new tech city

Tainan is embarking on its most ambitious development initiative to date with the commencement of the Southern Science Park (SSP) A-O zone project. This massive undertaking, covering 375.22 hectares across the Shanhua, Xinshi, and Anding districts, is poised to become the future core of the SSP and a vibrant new technology metropolis. The project's significance is amplified by the expansion plans of leading semiconductor manufacturers, most notably TSMC, which intends to build a cutting-edge 2-nanometer wafer fabrication plant.

The SSP A-O zone is designed with a dual focus on industrial growth and urban living. A substantial 73 hectares are designated for industrial support, creating an ecosystem to house upstream and downstream players in the semiconductor industry. This strategic allocation aims to consolidate the region's position as a global leader in advanced chip manufacturing. The impending TSMC plant, a 15.46-hectare facility that has already cleared environmental assessments, is expected to draw a wave of global supply chain partners, highly skilled talent, and a significant influx of jobs, further energizing the local economy.

Beyond its industrial ambitions, the development plan prioritizes the quality of life for its future residents. Over 158 hectares are earmarked for residential and commercial use, complemented by approximately 141 hectares dedicated to essential public facilities, including schools, healthcare services, recreational areas, and parks. This comprehensive approach aims to cultivate a livable and attractive "new tech city" that balances economic dynamism with community well-being. Local developers are already recognizing the potential, with prominent builders acquiring land in and around the zone, anticipating strong demand from the burgeoning tech population.
