Taipei candidate Chen Yi-chieh visits Shezi Market, vows to push for metro line completion

Chen Yi-chieh, an independent candidate for Taipei City Councilor in the Shilin and Beitou districts, visited the Shezi Market to engage with vendors and residents. During her visit, she listened to concerns about the market's environment, including issues with cleanliness, drainage, and ventilation. Vendors also highlighted problems related to surrounding traffic and parking.

Traditional markets are important local living spaces. Market improvements should start from the actual needs of vendors and consumers, including strengthening environmental hygiene, improving old facilities, and properly planning surrounding traffic and pedestrian routes.

Chen Yi-chieh emphasized the importance of traditional markets as vital community spaces. She stated that improvements should prioritize the practical needs of both vendors and consumers. This includes enhancing environmental hygiene, upgrading aging facilities, and optimizing traffic flow and pedestrian pathways around the market.

Addressing local infrastructure development, Chen Yi-chieh specifically mentioned the Taipei Metro's North Ring Line, a project that she and her father, Chen Cheng-chung, have advocated for over many years. She pledged to urge the city government to ensure the project's timely and quality completion. This infrastructure upgrade aims to improve the surrounding transportation network and enhance commuting convenience for residents.

The residents of Shezi have long been concerned about local transportation development, including the Taipei Metro's North Ring Line, which my father Chen Cheng-chung and I have been advocating for many years. I will urge the city government to ensure the project is completed on time and to the required quality.

They are fundamentally about connecting with local communities and listening to firsthand experiences. She committed to continuing her efforts to address the needs of Shilin and Beitou districts, ensuring residents feel well-served.
