Taiwan County Promotes Mid-Autumn Festival Products from Sheltered Workshops

The Chiayi County Government is actively promoting a range of Mid-Autumn Festival products crafted by local disability organizations and sheltered workshops. This initiative seeks to highlight the skills and dedication of individuals with disabilities, encouraging the public to support their work through purchasing these festive goods.

County Magistrate Weng Chang-liang visited the Ruo Chu Er Intellectual Development Center, where he experienced making pineapple cakes firsthand. He emphasized the importance of prioritizing purchases from these workshops for Mid-Autumn Festival gifts, noting that this supports both the senders' well-wishes and the stable income of the organizations.

We hope that as society considers Mid-Autumn Festival gifts, they will prioritize purchasing gifts from people with disabilities and sheltered workshops, combining the thoughtfulness of gift-giving with the act of charity, and stabilizing the income source for these institutions.

Several organizations are participating, each offering unique items. The Ruo Chu Er Educational Foundation presents pineapple cakes, cookies, egg yolk pastries, coffee, and tea. The Chiayi County Association of Friends of Mental Health's Little Sun Bakery offers five gift boxes with items like red bean egg yolk pastries and pineapple cakes. The Chiayi County Federation of Disabled Persons' sheltered workshop features oolong tea paired with egg yolk pastries, while the Leading Sheltered Workshop for Persons with Disabilities offers its popular egg yolk pastry gift boxes.

Social Affairs Bureau Director Chang Tsui-yao invited government agencies, businesses, and individuals to purchase these products to support stable employment for people with disabilities.
