Taiwan Fertilizer Marks 80 Years With Diversified Industrial Strategy

Taiwan Fertilizer marked its 80th anniversary by presenting itself as a company that has grown from an agricultural supplier into a diversified industrial business.

President Lai Ching-te attended the celebration at the company’s Nangang headquarters and opened its commemorative exhibition. He praised Chairman Chang Tsang-lang and General Manager Chen Yu-hsin for looking beyond the fertilizer business and expanding into chemicals and high technology.

Fertile Island, Great Beauty of Heaven and Earth

The celebration, themed “Fertile Island, Great Beauty of Heaven and Earth,” reviewed Taiwan Fertilizer’s development from fertilizer production into asset revitalization and chemical businesses. The exhibition will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. through November 20 at the first floor of the Nangang Business District Building. Visitors can also take part in a raffle and receive gifts.

Lai said Taiwan Fertilizer’s history was closely tied to the modernization of Taiwan’s agriculture and the country’s economic development. The company worked with farmers and local agricultural associations through fertilizer training, field trials and agricultural extension programs, helping improve fertilizer use while maintaining product quality and land sustainability.

He said the company had continued transforming as Taiwan moved from agriculture to industry and then to advanced technology. Its newer activities include electronic chemicals, recycling sulfuric acid from semiconductor processes, circular-economy projects, hydrogen and low-carbon hydrogen. Chang said the company would retain its commitment to protecting the land while finding new roles aligned with Taiwan’s social and national development needs.
